How to Be Authentic in Your Brand Communications

Authenticity in branding is all about aligning your values and beliefs with your customer’s values and beliefs, and behaving with actions that match your message. These values are your company’s DNA and must be incorporated in every interaction.

Now more than ever, customers demand brands to walk the talk. Loyal followers of any brand expect authentic communication.

Ensure you’re being authentic in your brand communications by following these steps:

Align with your mission and brand values. Strong brands make sure there is alignment with their core values at every level of the organization. If your actions don’t match up to those values, then be prepared to lose customers. Ask yourself if your company is always executing and implementing with your mission and values in mind.

Have a clear and consistent message. You and your employees should be highly knowledgeable of what your brand message is. The customer experience becomes disjointed once answers to the same question start varying from employee to employee. Sit down with your team to establish and learn your company’s message so that there are no concerning variations in the future.

Engage with your customers. A company-client relationship should be more than transactional - it’s an opportunity to build a bond with your customers. If they need help with your product or need answers about your brand image, provide them with an answer immediately. Don’t leave room for your customers to doubt your brand, and instead provide the support they need.

Every time you have the opportunity to communicate with your customer base, ensure you’re being consistent and true to your brand.
